Who doesn’t love a good spy? There’s no hiding from the truth that Get Smart showcases some daring & dashing looks…here’s our modern twist on some 60s classics…
One could argue that the modern woman is just like a female spy – the need for three costume changes throughout the day, having to always be prepared for anything and to look fabulous whether you’re catching a train or catching up with the enemy! So we’ve taken a little inspiration from the most stylish spy from the 60s, Agent 99! Think high fashion meets high functionality…
Fashion in action! With just enough stretch in this lace number, you can do the tango and tear up the fashion world all at once. Black, white & lace – this is the most timeless combination and the style of dress that you can wear in the day or evening.
For a cropped take on the swing coat, have a look at this gorgeous brown knit jacket. We’re getting more Audrey vibes than Agent 99 here, we won’t lie…This slim legging style pant looks super chic with an oversized tailored white shirt. Trans seasonal dressing has never been so easy.
The film adaptation of Get Smart saw Anne Hathaway in a gorgeous tuxedo blazer – a look redefined for the modern 60s fashionista by Yves Saint Laurent. We found inspiration in this but gave it a LBD Shop twist! The draping, multi layered tie on this cream sleeveless blouse is stunning. Wear it tucked into pants to show off the cut whilst still enjoying a little distraction around the tummy area!
Female suiting was birthed in the 60s and whilst Get Smart had a strong focus on Chanel-esque tweed skirt suits, the pant suit still deserves a mention! 2019 is all about relaxed suiting, as seen here in this knitted style. It may look like a simple, black suit, but there is a world of thoughtful details literally stitched into this set- from the pewter zips, to the reinforced panelling and even an Oscar Wilde quote on the pant! Perfect for looking slick whilst travelling, this is a set you will live in.
Here we have a fashion forward ensemble with a stylish nod to the mod trend. In a dark, french navy and white print, this sleeveless shift dress can be worn all year round by pairing with the matching coat. The swing coat is an iconic 60a fashion statement & incredibly versatile in itself!
How many times have you left the house just to do one simple errand, then the next thing you know you’re out all day, ran into a few too many familiar faces and been caught in a rain shower?! Extreme example, we know, but these things happen! To spies and to regular people -everyday. So you need a few staple pieces in your wardrobe that give you flexibility, wearability and style. Our tips – invest in a t-shirt with a twist, some tailored pants and a puffer coat that protects you from the elements but has just the right amount of class to go with any ensemble.
Whilst we may call this look ‘Athleisure’, it can also be seen as the most Suitable Spywear! These pants have enough pockets, reflective tape and technology weaved into them to make sure you don’t miss a step- on the tread mill or style stakes. Pair with a lightweight ribbed top and finish off your look with a matching zipped jacket and sneakers. It’s all about having a polished ensemble, head to toe!
Somehow, Agent 99 manages to save the world during the day and still look poised and feminine by night. Here’s a little secret – she’s invested in some classic sleepwear in luxurious silks and soft, suede mules (and is also still wearing a full face of makeup!!). P.S. whilst you’re reading this, we should mention there is a HUGE lingerie sale happening in store this month – call us to find out more.
If you want to blend in but still stand out, opt for mixing up your khakis with tonal neutrals. Here, our khaki denim jacket gives a utilitarian edge to this floral cashmere sweater. Pair with dark jeans, a taupe belt and animal print sneakers to complete your look.
You need to look fabulous even when you’re saving the world. We’ve told you all a million times that a LBD can take you anywhere and everywhere – this LBD with a nod to the mod will do exactly that. A straight shift silhouette with slight kick at the hem,you can dress this number up or down. Here, a leather coat, suede heels and baroque pearls add a touch of daring and elegance.
Meticulous tailoring ensures a polished look. If you want to dress with impact and confidence, choose a monochromatic ensemble with sharp lines and bold detail. We love the contrast here of the power-blazer over a soft cream turtle neck. The pant suit for ladies was an idea born in the 60s, so we just love this modern update!
Every decent spy knows she needs a killer trench coat. It’s Spy Fashion 101…A classic trench can be worn over everything and it’s a fantastic layering piece that you don’t have to think twice about. This trench has a little stretch too, so you can get around town elegantly & easily.
